About Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers can restore a beautiful smile by covering certain concerns, such as cracks, stains, chips, small gaps, and other issues. Thin, customized covers that fit over the front surface of the patient’s teeth, dental veneers create a natural, good-looking smile. Porcelain veneers are sturdy, but still thin enough to be translucent, which helps the porcelain veneers to blend with the normal appearance of the teeth. Getting dental veneers created by our dentists at DentalWorks - Durham in Durham, NC is a efficient, easy way to cover several physical flaws and make a restored, radiant smile.
"I have been going to this dentist office since 2015. I am fairly new to Yelp and just read the reviews provided. My experiences with Faith, who is, hands down, the most thorough, gentle and sweetest person I have ever had that takes "pleasure" of deep-diving into my mouth with scary sharp objects to help me improve my overall health. ;-). She is simply an amazing person who makes you feel welcome and not "just a customer." Lisa is another Dental Hygienist whom I have also had the pleasure of her hygiene practice that I have also enjoyed (Despite her choice in Pro Football teams!). I have not had the negative experiences that others have had several years ago. Dr. Zhao is a wonderful dentist and I highly recommend them. I have had to have 2 Crowns during this time. Dental insurance is helpful but doesn't cover all the costs, however that isn't the dentist's fault! I have never been chastised nor belittled for my lack of knowledge of services offered. There isn't any "high-pressure" sales pitches... you can simply say "no, thank you!" And move forward with your life! The front office staff are friendly and helpful. If someone is tied up on the phone, someone else will quickly step up to help. It is a busy office and I have never felt like I was rushed. Dr. Zhao, Faith and Lisa spent quality time explaining the Who, what, when, where, how and why of my body's needs and explained the options and consequences. Simply an awesome place... well worth the money and visit!"- P.P. / Yelp / Dec 21, 2017
"I have been to this office four times now, and each time I experience a pleasant, smooth appointment process, something I have not experienced at other dental offices. The first time I came in, I had an infected wisdom tooth that needed to be pulled. They went ahead and gave me antibiotics and a mouthwash to use while the infection cleared up, took bitewings, and had me come back to get both wisdom teeth on the top out. The oral surgeon (can't remember his name but he was very nice) had both teeth out in just a few minutes, explained everything to me very thoroughly, and listened when I told him that I need more Novocaine than most people as I am a natural redhead and therefore more resistant to anesthesia. At the time of my wisdom teeth being removed, they told me that I needed a list of cleanings and fillings as I had not been to the dentist in a long time, but that I could schedule them at my convenience, when I could afford to come back.Last week, I broke a tooth and came in to have an exam done. They told me I needed a cleaning on that quadrant of my mouth before they could fill the cavity and broken area, and scheduled me. The hygienist was kind, gentle, and patient, and very thorough. She told me I would probably need to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen following my appointment for a day or so while my gums recovered from the scaling and root planing. I went back in yesterday to have the tooth filled and Dr. Legler was great, he remembered me from the previous cleaning visit when I said I needed extra numbing, without me saying it out loud. When I did feel pain during the procedure, he offered me the option to keep going or get numbed again- I tried to brave it one more time but the second time I raised my hand he went ahead and numbed me more and was very kind and patient about having to stop his procedure halfway through to make me more comfortable. Until I have a reason not to I will continue to come to this dental office! I've had nothing but good experiences here, the staff are always great and even though I hate dental appointments I always leave feeling like I worked myself up for nothing because they make it so easy."- A.K. / Google / Nov 27, 2017

"I can't say enough about this practice. I was ten minutes late for my appointment and everyone was totally understanding. I wish I knew my hygienist's name. She is such a kind person and gave me such an outstanding cleaning. Dr. Zhao is wonderful and personable. This practice really knows how to take care of their patients. Thank you!"- M.M. / Facebook / Nov 08, 2017
"Myself and three of my sons go to dental works for orthodontic care. The staff is always warm and friendly. And although we have had different orthodontist over the coarse of care they have all been top notch"- J.S. / Google / Nov 06, 2017
What to Expect
To begin the process of crafting the personalized dental veneers our dentists must make room for the dental veneer by removing a thin layer of dental enamel from each tooth that will be covered to the dental veneer. Once the teeth have been prepared, our dentists will make a digital impression of the teeth that will be used to make the custom dental veneers in a dental laboratory. A temporary veneer can be used to protect the teeth until the final dental veneers are returned to DentalWorks - Durham in Durham, NC. The custom dental veneers will be secured to the front surface of the teeth with a dental bonding agent. Our dentists will fine-tune the dental veneers as needed to provide the patient a comfortable fit.
A follow-up appointment is usually booked for about 5 - 7 days after the dental veneers are placed to ensure the attachment is secure and the fit is still comfortable. Porcelain veneers are more resilient against staining than the natural enamel, but to keep the dental veneers in their pristine condition, our dentists advise avoiding staining foods and drinks, like coffee, soda, tea, and red wine. Patients should start or continue to follow a good home oral care routine, including daily tooth brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste, regular flossing, and visiting our dentists for dental cleanings and oral exams at DentalWorks - Durham. With good care, dental veneers can last up to 20 years.
Porcelain veneers are categorized a cosmetic service, so it is usually not covered by dental insurance. However, DentalWorks - Durham in Durham, NC accepts many payment options, not to mention our dentists and the staff at DentalWorks - Durham can help patients with financing plans to make dental veneers more affordable.
